Planning the perfect holiday isn’t easy.
There’s a lot you need to think about – itineraries, budgets, accommodation, and of course, things you want to do and see on your trip.
But instead of you having to spend all of your time looking for the perfect holiday destination, let us tell you about one of our favourite places.
Palm Cove is a gorgeous seaside village on the coast of Tropical North Queensland in Australia and is an amazing holiday destination for people of all ages. With near-perfect weather all-year round, a gorgeous tropical setting, and of course plenty to see and do, keep reading to learn more about the amazing attractions you can experience when you’re in Palm Cove.
1. The Wet Tropics Rainforest
Palm Cove’s amazing location is not only stunning to look at, it also happens to be smack bang in between two of the world’s most wonderful natural attractions – the Wet Tropics Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
We’ll tell you more about the Great Barrier Reef shortly, but first, let’s talk about the Wet Tropics.
This magical jungle is actually the world’s oldest rainforest – even older than the Amazon – and is actually a World Heritage Listed site, and most certainly worth visiting when you’re in this part of the world.
The Wet Tropics is made up of five different regions, each with vastly different landscapes. You will also find the world-famous Daintree rainforest in the Wet Tropics.
If you’re an animal or nature lover, the Wet Tropics is an awe-inspiring place to explore. And the ways in which you can explore it are just as varied as the different plant and animal species that call the Wet Tropics home.
There are almost endless walking trails you can explore at your own pace; as well as guided tours that have adrenaline fuelled activities like rafting, swimming and horse riding; there are hundreds of waterfalls to chase; and you can even discover the forest from above the canopy in a glass-bottomed gondola ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.
Palm Cove is the perfect place to explore the Wet Tropics from as you can get your first glimpse of the forest within a 20 minute drive.
2. The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is definitely quite great. It covers an area of over 344,000 square kilometres, is 2,200km long and made up of over 3000 coral reefs, more than 900 islands, 1500+ species of fish, and an endless array of marine life.
The calm, turquoise waters are warm and inviting and just waiting to be explored. Like the Wet Tropics, the Great Barrier Reef is a Heritage Listed site and is a place that everyone should visit.
There are so many amazing ways you can discover it the Reef. You can snorkel the waters from the shores of a tropical island; sail on a catamaran to a pontoon theme park at an outer reef, take a glass-bottomed boat tour, or you can even take a scenic flight aboard a helicopter.
You can basically see the Reef from up close and from afar, so whether you’re happy getting wet or you want to stay dry, there is a way you can see the Reef that works for you.
When you’re in Palm Cove your access to the Reef is super easy. You can try out many different water sports right from the Coral Sea that lines the shores of Palm Cove, or you can travel the short journey to either Port Douglas or Cairns for many other tour options.
The Reef House
This attraction is a bit of a change of speed from the first two we’ve talked about, but most certainly worth experiencing.
An historical location of Palm Cove, The Reef House is a place that is rich with tradition and one of the most incredible luxury hotels in Palm Cove.
The Reef House is a colonial style beachfront property that boasts an award winning Day Spa, an on-site restaurant, two pools, and amazingly luxurious rooms for you to relax in after a full day of adventure seeking.
One of the things that makes the Reef House so special is that it is a place that is rich with history and tradition. The Reef House mixes modern luxuries with traditional touches which creates an excitingly unique vibe and is the best choice for you to spend your time in Palm Cove.
If you’ve ever dreamt about holidaying in a place that is akin to paradise, then you must spend some time at the Reef House in Palm Cove.
