Ahmedabad to Thailand Flights: A Complete Guide

Thailand is known as the Kingdom of Thailand is a country located in Southeast Asia. This is located in the Indochinese Peninsula and spans across 513,120 sq km, with a population of almost 70 million people.

Thailand shares borders with Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, and the Andaman Sea. The Country’s capital is Bangkok and it is the largest city.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport

Ahmedabad Airport goes by the name Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The airport is located approximately 9 km from central Ahmedabad. The airport goes by name of the 1st Deputy Prime Minister of India. It is the busiest and the largest airport in the state of Gujarat.

Ahmedabad airport currently has four terminals. The airport does have 45 parking bays and 4 aerobridges on each terminal. The new terminal does have a moving walkway that is half a kilometer long. This connects both terminals.

The first terminal has 32 check-in counters and spans an area of 480,000 sq ft. A new plaza premium lounge was opened in December 2018. This serves as a priority pass for select bank cards and certain business class passengers depending on the airline. The second terminal was opened on 5th July 2010 and the operations commenced on 15th September 2010. The terminal has 32 check-in counters and has four aerobridges. The terminal can accommodate approximately 1600 passengers anytime. The apron area spans 559,450 sqft and can accommodate up to nine A-321 and four ATR-72. A new terminal will be coming up next to Terminal 1. The terminal will mainly be used for domestic operation and the construction began in early 2019.

Suvarnabhumi Airport:

Suvarnabhumi Airport informally goes by the name Bangkok airport. It is one of two international airports that serve the Bangkok Metropolitan Region. The other airport is Don Mueang International Airport(DMK). This also serves as a hub for low-cost carriers. Suvarnabhumi airport spans 8000 acres, this makes it the biggest airport in southeast Asia. The airport also serves as a major cargo and air freight hub.

The airport has two runways and 2 parallel taxiways to handle departure and arrivals simultaneously. It has 120 parking bays. It also has 5 gates that can accommodate Airbus A380. There are 72 jet bridges and 69 non-jet bridges in the airport. There are 18 jet bridges and 6 non-jet bridges specifically built for Airbus A380.

The airport also has an underground rail link station just in front of the passenger terminal. There is a 600 room hotel. The airport is currently the fourth biggest passenger terminal in the world just after Hong Kong, Beijing, and Dubai airports. There are different ways to connect to the airport. The first is The Airport Rail Link (ARL) is on the lower level of the Airport. It links the hotel that is opposite the main terminal. The ARL’s hours of service are between 6.00 to 00.00.

Suvarnabhumi public transport center is located Northeast of the Airport. This also serves are the main bus terminal for the airport. There is a free shuttle bus that operates between both the airport from 5.00 -00.00. The public taxi is located on level 1. One can buy printed tickets from the ticketing machine. There are 5 different main routes to access the airport. The most used is the Bangkok Chon Buri motorway.

Flights and Fares from Ahmedabad to Thailand

There are approximately 18 airlines that operate between Ahmedabad to Bangkok. These vary from budget to premium airline. Unfortunately, there are no direct flights to Bangkok and all 18 flights are connecting flights. Airlines such as Go First, Emirates, Indigo, Vistara, and Qatar Airways are some of the frequent airlines that fly between these routes.

In terms of the pricing, the average fare is approximately INR 25000. This solely depends on the airline, timings, and availability. It is highly advisable to book flights in advance in order to avail the best fare.

Things to Know Before Travelling to Thailand

Every year people visit Thailand for various reasons. Having a basic understanding of what one can expect once they arrive in the country would be helpful. Some of the dos and don’t in Thailand are as follows.

The power voltage in Thailand is 22V, plugs A & C. The currency in Thailand is baht and one USD is approximately 30 baht. ATM is available everywhere in Thailand. It is advisable to make money from the ATM accordingly as banks charge around 150 baht(5$ USD) per transaction.

Sim Cards are available at every MBK center across Bangkok. Data is also cheap and fast. Though English is a very common language in Thailand, it is always good to learn a few Thai phrases before your travel. Thailand has 2 seasons, the rainy and dry seasons. The country is predominantly a tropical country and it is hot and humid throughout the year.

Do’s and Dont’s in Thailand:

People who are visiting temples or any places of worship must wear appropriate clothing. Respect the culture by covering your knees and shoulders while entering temples or monasteries. Long pants and long sleeves that are lightweight and the polyester material are ideal as Thailand is a tropical country. Beware of scams across Thailand.

Though the King has passed away he is still admired and respected by the people of Thailand.

The best way to go around Thailand is either through tuk-tuks or use the Grab Taxi app. This is more like Uber. It is cheaper and you don’t have the hassles of bartering with the drivers.

COVID Guidelines for travelling to Thailand:

  • Tourists arriving in Thailand must have a Thailand pass QR code.This can be obtained at https://tp.consular.go.th/.
  • Passengers entering Thailand must provide a negative COVID-19 RTPCR test.This should be taken 72 hours prior to travel.The test result must be in english.
  • All Passengers who enter Thailand must have COVID-19 vaccination certificate.This must show your fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covaxin, Covishield, Janssen, Moderna (Spikevax), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm, Sinovac or Sputnik V at least 14 days before departure.
  • All Tourist who enter or transit through Thailand must have a medical insurance which has a minimum coverage of USD 50,000.
