How to Reach Bali?

By Air

Ngurah Rai International Airport or Denpasar International Airport, located in South Kuta district, is situated at a distance of just 13 kilometres from Denpasar, the capital of Bali. Many international flights like Emirates, Dragonair, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines fly in and out of the Denpasar Airport. Bali flights from Chennai and Cochin are some of the cheapest flights.

Travellers from Kolkata should halt in Singapore as the flights from Kolkata to Singapore are reasonably priced. If you are flying from any other city, you need to keep in mind that you will be having a connecting flight to Bali with a one-stop. You can board direct flights from Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Lombok at a reasonable price. After reaching the international airport of Bali, you can just hire a taxi to your destination. Don’t wait for buses as they might not always be available from the airport.

By Road

Take a bus from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, to Bali if you can handle the 23-hour bus journey. If you want a memorable train journey through the small towns and forests, catch a train to Banyuwangi and switch to a ferry from there. There are trains to Surabaya’s Gubeng Station from Jakarta, Yogyakarta, or Bandung. After this, you can take an air-conditioned train to Banyuwangi that will offer a ferry to Denpasar.

By Sea

Bali is quite famous for most cruises traversing through South East Asia. You can get into Bali through this sea route. Take a flight to Singapore, Sumatra, or Java. From there take a ship to continue your journey to Bali. It is suggestible not to travel to Bali by ship as the seas can turn rough leading to unpleasant journeys and unavoidable circumstances.

Tips for Your Bali Honeymoon

  1. Don’t forget to choose the destinations carefully! Highlight the most favorable places. After visiting the popular sites, jump into other attractions.
  2. Indulge in Balinese cuisine. Experience the taste of famous salads, cut fruits, meats, local liquor arak. Do not miss out the diverse street food. And Yes! With a degree of caution.
  3. Always dress for different Balinese occasions. Beachwear doesn’t always suit Bali. Many bars, restaurants, and clubs enforce a dress code.
  4. Respect religious customs. Be mindful of your conduct in temples and holy sites. Do remember to dress modestly, covering your shoulders and knees. Nyepi, a Balinese “Day of Silence” is celebrated every Isakawarsa according to the Balinese calendar. Respect the custom. Take a note of everything before planning for your trip. If your dates fall on Nyepi, everything in Bali, even the airport, shuts down for the day.
  5. Be cautious of Bali’s wild and stray animals. Rabies and other zoonotic diseases are serious risks in Bali, and it is commonly known to everyone around the world that monkeys are famous for their notorious thieving ways. Bali has numerous stray dogs, often seen in pretty bad shape. If you want to make a difference by donation, donate to Bali Dog Refuge, which helps to rescue and rehabilitate the island’s stray pups.
  6. Don’t carry plastic water bottles anywhere. Lots of plastic wastes wash up and gather on Bali’s beaches, which pollutes the environment. Carry stainless steel bottles that you can refill. You can find almost all cafes and restaurants where you can get filter water. You can use for free or for a small fee.
  7. It is advisable to learn some local lingo. Try picking up few words from Bahasa Indonesia, the official language of Indonesia, like Selamat Pagi (good morning), Tolong (please), and Terima Kasih (thank you).
