Our First International Trip To New Zealand – Unwrap The World!

A few months ago, I went to my very first international trip oversea with my loved one. We chose New Zealand because of its right mix of climate, scenic beauty, and adventure. I and my wife go crazy about long drives especially in a mind-blowing location like New Zealand. The moment we decided to go on holiday, I googled lots of websites regarding New Zealand Tour packages. Then the Pickyourtrail website popped in the search bar. The content on the page seemed to be interesting and attractive. Later I received a call from one of the professionals at Pickyourtrail. They patiently answered all my queries and clearly understood my expectations. I was given a beautiful itinerary as per my wish. The hotels, the rental car, the activities, everything was perfectly selected within my budget. Pickyourtrail really made our first international trip to New Zealand easier and memorable!

We were so excited about our first International trip. We literally felt like how a kid would feel on his first day of school. It was a mix of excitement and nervousness. But Pickyourtrail ensured that they were with us throughout the trip. Everything was set and an awesome support team from Pickyourtrail was available round the clock to help us out whenever in need. So we started from Delhi with full enjoyment and josh.

Day 1: Christchurch Calls!

Finally, we arrived at Christchurch in our rental car. The car was simply awesome and comfortable. It was a day at leisure for us since we were tired after the long flight. We had a pleasant dinner at our hotel and spent our day in calmness and serenity.

Day 2: Sumner beach, Hagley Park, and Botanical garden

Sumner Beach

On our second day, we decided to set our footprints on the Sumner beach. We had a romantic walk along the esplanade. We also explored the caves, viewpoints, exotic restaurants and bar along the seashore. It was a nice relaxing getaway from the hustle-bustle of the city.

Hagley Park and Christchurch Botanical Garden

Our visit to Hagley Park was like an escape from the busy city life. We had a relaxing evening in the park that houses the beautiful Rose gardens and varied flora and fauna. Birds chirping in almost every corner of the park and beautiful ducks waddling around the Avon River was a beautiful sight to watch. We completely took in the charm and beauty of Christchurch in this aesthetic place.

Enjoying beauty of Lake Wanaka

Day 3: Queenstown Magic!

On our third day, we headed to Queenstown from Christchurch. It was one helluva ride through amazingly beautiful mountains, lakes and grasslands. Christchurch is undoubtedly the garden city of New Zealand.

Skyline Gondola

After this tremendous ride, we had our Skyline Gondola Activity. We were taken to the top by the steepest cable car lift in the Southern Hemisphere. We enjoyed a spectacular panoramic view of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Walter and Cecil Peak, and of course, Queenstown.

Luge Ride

When we reached the topmost cliff, we enjoyed a Luge ride. It recalled our childhood memories when we used to race with our small bicycles through slopes and bends. Our day was well-spent with adventure and thrill.

Day 4: Adventure overloaded

Our 4th day was filled with adventure and adrenaline rush. We had three activities lined up on this day.

Onsen Hot pools

The Onsen pool was a rejuvenating luxurious spa experience at Queenstown. The Idyllic cedar-lined hot pools overlooking the Shotover River with exclusive hot tubs was indeed relaxing and pampering. It was one awesome experience probably one of my favourites in Queenstown.

Jet Boat Ride

After the relaxing spa experience, we were all set for the thrilling Jet Boat ride. It was a combination of nature plus adventure and beauty plus power. We were given safety jackets and helmets to have a safe ride. We thoroughly enjoyed the fast momentum of water beating while riding through ups and downs of rugged rocks. It was one amazing experience to remember!

Kawarau Zip ride

I have always fantasized about flying like a Superhero in the air. Kawaru Zip ride fulfilled my childhood dream. The zip ride took us down the 130m line which was super exciting. There’s a lot of ways to be creative when you ride through the zipline. And I chose my all-time favourite Superman style!

Day 5: Majestic Milford sound

Milford sound is also known as the 8th wonder of the world. We were waiting to experience this wonder on our 5th day. Our coach started with a common bus stop at Queenstown. Magic began there! We enjoyed the panoramic views and entertaining commentary as our driver pointed out the highlights on the way. Then we boarded the cruise. We were simply dropping our jaws looking at the views of majestic snow-capped mountains, lush green forests and shimmering river. This is one amazing experience that I would cherish for my lifetime.

Day 6: W-O-W-ed at Wanaka

Wanaka is a lively town in the south Island. I could say this as a picture-perfect location to load your gallery with beautiful pictures. The views of snowcapped Alps mountain, a wilderness of glaciers, dense forests and alpine lakes were simply outstanding!

Day 7 and 8: Fun at Franz Josef

Glacier Valley walk

Our next leg of the trip was to Franz Josef. We hiked through the ancient paths of the glacier and explored the lush rainforest alongside the Waiho River. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable. He explained about the history, culture and origin of the place. The picturesque landscapes were remarkable with pristine waterfalls on our way.

Day 9 and 10: Christchurch again!

We arrived at the last leg of our fantastic trip. The trip started and ended in the garden city of New Zealand. We visited the Victoria clock tower on our last day. It was indeed a glorious piece of architecture. The next day, we took our flight back to India from Christchurch.

It was one amazing experience being to a new country for the first time and getting to know about their culture and heritage. The people of New Zealand were sweet and welcoming. This memorable trip wouldn’t have been possible without Pickyourtrail’s support. Kudos to the entire team of Pickyourtrail who helped us out throughout your New zealand trip
