Colombo city’s largest suburb is Moratuwa. Situated on Sri Lanka’s south-western coast, Moratuwa is close to the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia. Located 18 km south of Colombo City Centre, on Galle Road or the main highway of Galle Colombo. Surrounded by water on three sides, Moratuwa is enveloped on the south by the river Moratu, on the east by the lake Bolgoda and on the west by the Indian Ocean, except towards the northern end of the city. The National Museum of Sri Lanka also known as the Colombo National Museum is one of two museums in Colombo and is Sri Lanka’s largest Museum. The museum is maintained by the central government, Department of National Museum. 7. Dutch Period Museum

Established during the Dutch Occupation of Colombo period, the museum is located in Prince Street’s two-story building. The building was then the Dutch Governor’s residence, Thomas Van Rhee, during his term of office from 1692 until 1697. The building has been utilised for a number of purposes over the years. 8. Galle Face Green

Galle Face is an urban park spread over 5 hectares of ground and is one of the most famous places to visit in Moratuwa. With an ocean view, the park stretches in the heart of the business district and financial district of Colombo for half a kilometre along the coast. The park was initially used as a golf course or for horse racing but is now being used for sports such as rugby, polo, tennis, cricket, football and other sports.
