Humans have voyaged and voyaged for centuries and have now settled down. Countries formed, continents split but there’s still bundles of unearthed land that lays unexplored. No humans have set foot in some and some will take many more humans to call themselves a populated place. The ones we are concerned about are those parts of the planet that are too beautiful to sit unexplored.
Not many think of Puglia, the region named as Italy’s boot’s heel when they think of Italian vacations. That precisely is the reason why Puglia or Apulia should be on your next travel plan. The white sand beaches and the island hopping possibilities make it an ideal getaway. You will not find tourist populations everywhere you go, like in Venice or Rome but you’ll get to bask in the glory of Italy just the same. The hotels and the little houses that hug the coastline will still not purge you of wanderlust. There are so many coastal towns and fishing villages that spell ‘Love’ in Puglia and they all lay unexplored!

Ah! Lake Bled sits in the one unassuming landscape of my head that makes up unticked travel plans that I’d like to realise before I die. When I think of Lake Bled and its magnificent seat in Slovenia, I’m sated for the day. Maybe it’s the shape of the islet that makes it look like a dollop of cake frosting or maybe it’s the far lands hidden in the mountains that are still reduced to nothing by the presence of this little piece of land. You might wonder why it’s on this list if the world knows about it, but famous as it seems, it still doesn’t get the attention it deserves!

Such a snowy Paradise hidden away from the world comes as a surprise. The Japanese have kept it a secret for so long. The three mountains and the villages shaded by them are a UNESCO heritage site! The huts in the villages are constructed in the style of Gassho-zukuri, which means, constructed like hands in prayer. Buses are the only ways to navigate through the region, other than of course the footpaths. The entire landscape looks like a scene from a Hayao Miyazaki movie. The magic and the mystery of these villages are second to only the productions of Studio Ghibli!

Finland’s most Northern region is called the Finnish Lapland. Wonders like the midnight sun and the Northern lights are normal occurrences in this Arctic region. Santa Claus, allegedly has his secret home here, although the multitude of reindeer doesn’t make it any secret. Finnish Lapland has somehow managed to stay untouched through each conquest of westernization. So go make that wilderness yours.

Nordic archipelago is a group of fuming islands that pepper the Atlantic Ocean between Norway and Iceland. I’m sure you could picture the beauty that lies in them with just that description. The scenery is poetic in this region and beats the surrounding European countries in terms of remoteness and unexplored lands. The mountainous regions, coastal cliffs and the misty valleys will make you never want to leave.
Coastal towns paired with Aurora Borealis is always a good idea! Such is the life of the lucky people who live in this part of Norway. They have eternal Northern Lights and surreal arctic beauty to look forward to every day. The mountains that rise up to the sky right behind the setting and the brightly coloured houses pinned to the coast is a picture that you’ll never forget.

Greenland with its vast ice cover and a tiny green sheet of land enough to be named after is an island that has stretches of unexplored land lying for people to set foot. You could sail among icebergs or lead an expedition into one. That is the most the tourism in the country has expanded to so you do the math! Remember to check out the sled dogs and maybe even take a sledge ride.
Speaking of unexplored regions on the planet, here’s Antarctica for you-
