March to April: Spring is a great time to travel to Vietnam, especially in the northern and central regions. The weather is pleasant, with warm temperatures, clear skies, and flowers blooming. May to August: Vietnam experiences a hot and humid summer along with heavy rainfall in the northern and central regions. Although the temperatures tend to be pretty high, you will enjoy coastal-side activities in areas such as Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang. If you want to enjoy a day at the beach, then stick to central Vietnam, where you can also engage in adventure activities like snorkelling, scuba diving and kayaking. The southern part of Vietnam experiences heavy rainfall and hence is ideal for budget travellers. However, the months of July to September are considered the peak season, so ensure that you plan accordingly.

September to November: The weather in autumn is very comfortable and cool with clear skies, bringing exceptional beauty to the country. Hanoi and Halong Bay are quite lovely at this time of year, especially with golden leaves covering the streets. Although the central region still experiences rainfall, the country elsewhere is cool and ideal for sightseeing, trekking in Sapa or even celebrating the mid-Autumn festival.

December to February: Winter in Vietnam is extremely cool with temperatures reaching as low as 10°C and experiences misty and chilly conditions. This season is perfect for hot comfort food like pho, hotpot, and egg coffee in Hanoi and cultural landmarks like pagodas, temples, and ancient towns. The peak season is when they have celebrations such as Christmas, New Year and Tet celebrations. Take advantage of this beautiful weather and celebrations by booking well in advance so as to stay clear of surge charges.

May to August: Pack light, loose-fitting and breathable clothes along with sunscreens, sunglasses, and hats to fight the hot climatic conditions. But don't forget to pack an umbrella and raincoat to guard yourself against unexpected heavy rainfalls, especially in the south. Book in advance to obtain lower rates for accommodations and flights.

September to November: This season is ideal for sightseeing, trekking and autumn festivals while also enjoying the beautiful landscapes. As the weather is cool, make sure to pack thick jackets, sweaters and other coverings.

December to February: Being the peak season, make sure you book at least in advance and get reasonable rates for bookings of flights as well as staying. Bring warm clothing like jackets, sweaters, hats and boots because the weather turns very cold here. If you want to experience warm weather during winter, visit beaches in the southern areas like Phu Quoc.
