American businessman and philanthropist Mr. Sheldon Adelson is credited with having first thought of the idea for the ArtScience Museum. Adelson's vision started to come true thanks to cooperation with the Singaporean government and the eminent architectural firm Moshe Safdie and Associates. A total of 21 gallery spaces, each specifically created to accommodate a variety of exhibitions, are housed in the ten finger-like additions to the building.
