About Park Guell, Barcelona
Park Guell covers around 18 Hectares of hilly land. It was originally envisioned by Count Eusebi Guell. It was to be a miniature city for Barcelona’s affluent class but the project was abandoned. Gaudi continued to develop it as a park and since then it attracts a lot of crowds from every corner of the world. It was open to the public in 1926 and is also known for its beauty till now. This historic park sets apart and you can experience the best of it. It was never intended to be a park at first but as a colony, the architects decided to stop the project as not even a single house was sold. In 1922, Barcelona bought the half-built residential complex.
It was developed into a public park and since then, it is worldwide known for its ravishing art. The authorities divided the park into two zones and by October 2013, the monumental zone was restricted by ticket. The architecture of this park can definitely be compared to a fairytale come to life! The park has Trencadís which is a mosaic created by small pieces of broken ceramic and this technique is used throughout the park. You can also witness the fluidity of the design in the structure which makes it stand as one with nature, just amazing!
