Dubai: The Hub of Watersports

Home to the World’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, the City of Dubai has made quite a name of itself. With one of the lowest crime rates in the world and an income-tax-free law, Dubai has attracted a lot of migrants in recent times and the population is increasingly more foreign than native. Dubai also flaunts the famous Burj Al Arab considered the world’s first seven-star hotel property. As this hotel emerges gracefully from the waters of the Jumeirah Beach, if you lean over a bit, the beautiful Palm island meets your eye and yet another world-class hotel stands tall on the extreme end of the island, Atlantis, the Palm. As the beachy atmosphere engulfs you, the first thought in your mind would be to indulge in water sports.

Watersports are available as an array of different options at the Jumeirah Beach. From Parasailing and Jet Pack riding to Scuba diving and Zup boarding, the Jumeirah Beach has it all for you. Don’t worry about your safety, lifeguards are present on-site the Jumeirah beach at all times and will look out for you especially if you are a first-timer. All you have to do is pre-book whatever activity you’d like to do and take the guide with you. Read on to find out more about the kind of water sports you can take up while at the Jumeirah Beach.

Parasailing

If you are a beginner, this is the safest and best watersport to take up. You can take it up even without a guide. You will be tied to a parachute and swooshed away into the air like a bird while being attached to the speedboat that will traverse through the waves of the Jumeirah Beach. A huge dose of adrenaline is sure to take on you as you take in the brilliant views of the beautiful Palm island, the vast shoreline of the Jumeirah Beach, and also the City of Dubai.

Jet Pack Ride

Longed to be a dolphin jumping through the waves? Well, then the Jet Pack Ride is just for you. For a good half an hour, you are swung 30 feet above the surface of the water and 15 feet below the surface of the sea right after. This is totally the true definition of “Adrenaline rush” don’t you think? Do not worry about the safety, you will be all padded up and the instructor will guide you at all times.

Zup Boarding

This is a very unique activity that again even beginners can take up and has especially gained popularity in Dubai. You will be holding on to the boat like a slingshot and standing on atop a skiboard or a surfboard. You could also try out some cool poses whilst Zup boarding and probably someone from the boat can click one of those Instagram worthy shots. Make sure you have a trained guide and a life jacket on you before you take up this activity.

Scuba Diving

This is an activity that is on top of every water sports enthusiast’s bucket list. Jumeirah Beach is one of the best spots for Scuba Diving especially if you are a beginner. Explore the exotic marine life of Dubai and also expeditiously indulge in some shipwreck exploration way below the surface of the sea. Take a guided dive or explore it yourself! You can also take a dive from the Atlantis diving spot which will lead you to the treasures of the Palm Island. There’s just some eerie kind of joy in discovering a new world beneath the world where we exist. The underwater kingdom has to be appreciated in its totality for how beautifully it presents itself.

Deep-Sea Fishing

Ever tried your hand at fishing? You must have seen it for sure, but have you heard of deep-sea fishing? It’s done at the deeper parts of the sea or ocean. A boat ride from the shore to that part of the sea which is about 30 feet deep takes you to the best fishing zones where you will find the most exotic types of fish which otherwise are never found near the shore. Again, there will be a guide to help you out in case you end up catching a really vexed fish! But a pretty cool experience to take up and boast about later right?

How to reach the beach

Most of the watersports are taken up at Jumeirah Beach. This place has easy access in terms of buses or also through the metro. The famous hop-on-hop-off bus tours that happen throughout the day in the city also stop at Jumeirah Beach. You can just hop off from the bus and take up the watersports of your interest and at your pace. The metro stops at the Palm Deira Metro station and it is a walkable distance from there to the beach.

Timings

The Jumeirah Beach is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm throughout the week and in terms of entry fee required to take up water sport activities, it could range anywhere from INR 5,000 to INR 15,000 depending on the activity you take up.

The term “Watersports” itself has adventure written all over it. So it is undoubtedly only for those who are willing to do it and those who do not have health issues. Do keep in mind that the instructor wants your safety as much as you do which makes it really important that you listen to each and every word he has to say. Carry an extra pair of clothes to change into after you head back from the water sport activity. These useful tips will surely come in handy when you head on this expedition!
