There might be several must-visit places in every city, but some places are sure to steal your heart. The Perdana Botanical Garden in Kuala Lumpur is a recreational part. It was established in 1888. With a history for more than a century, this botanical garden gives the visitors the ambience of being in a tropical rainforest, despite being in the middle of a bustling metropolis.

The Perdana Botanical Garden is one among the most visited Botanical gardens in Malaysia. Also known as the Lake garden, this botanical park is situated within the Tun Abdul Razak Heritage Park. The Hibiscus Garden, Butterfly Park and Bird Park are the favourites of the tourists visiting this garden.
The Perdana Botanical garden is free of cost for its visitors. However, you should purchase entrance tickets if you wish to visit the other gardens and parks in the botanical garden.
Stroll around the shady pathways, enjoying the outdoor sculptures and relaxing and rejuvenating your soul in the epitome of calmness, forgetting the city chaos.
Getting there
The Tun Abdul Razak Heritage Park houses the Perdana Botanical garden. The Perdana Botanical Garden covers about 170 acres and is located near the National Museum of Malaysia. One can either take a local taxi or a bus to reach this botanical garden. Busses numbered B110, B115 and B112 stop here.
The Perdana Botanical Garden is also one among the stops of the Kuala Lumpur Hop-on and Hop-off bus tour. If you had already purchased a Hop-on hop-off bus ticket then do not forget to stop here.
Traveller’s Tips
- Guided tours are offered free of cost, every Sunday between 8 am to 10 am.
- Carry a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses if you are planning to visit by midday
- If you aren’t comfortable with walking long distances, purchase the tickets for the shuttle that runs within the park. This shuttle operates between 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
- I would personally not suggest you stop here, on the Hop-on hop-off bus tour and this is because you might end up spending more time only in this place and might miss out visiting other places. Most travellers take about 3-4.5 hours to roam around this park.
- Make sure you carry your camera with you. This garden is one of the favourite places to click pictures in Kuala Lumpur.
- Do not miss to check-out the Rainbow Eucalyptus Tree near the Bamboo playhouse, that actually does have the colours of a Rainbow.
- The Perdana Botanical garden is almost empty during weekdays. The crowd is seen only during weekends.
This Perdana Botanical Garden is an ideal place; to get lost in calmness; to read a book or pack a picnic for a warm afternoon. It is one of the many reasons to visit Malaysia, a beautiful country. Some nearby attractions are the National Museum, the Planetarium and the Islamic Museum. Witness all these marvellous attractions by planning your very own trip to Malaysia.
