Bedford is a small, unassuming market town with a population of about 80,000. It is one of the most racially diverse towns in the UK with approximately 10 per cent of the people originating from South Asia and nearly 30 per cent of Italian origin, in comparison to its scale. The cultural patchwork is reflected in the extensive range of restaurants serving high quality and reasonably priced cuisine from around the world offered by the town. As well as omnipresent Italian and Indian / Bangladeshi restaurants, there are restaurants serving French, Japanese, Mexican and Turkish cuisine, to name a few.

New Bedford Village is an open-air, interactive history. Museum tourists will go back in time to the early days when things were easier and it was hard work to survive. Formerly host to a historic excavation site, this village gradually became the revived museum with about 40 houses. Some of the buildings include a broom shop, houses, a tavern, a bakery, a village press, an octagonal schoolhouse and much more. Watch reenactment, craft some colonial crafts and join the festival/holiday activities along with self-guided tours. Throughout the village, even murder mystery evenings are held and it is one of the recommended things to do in Bedford.
