The Initiative

Alok Gupta, the Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department said, “The department has released comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) for hotels, film shooting, and tourist venues. The department is promoting the ‘Short Stay, Safe Stay’ concept to ensure that travel enthusiasts from nearby states can come to rejuvenate in a safe and secure ambience.” Considering that the festival season is around the corner in India, the Tourism Ministry of Rajasthan has decided to make the state a safer environment for tourists.

A new form of tourism which is being encouraged currently across India is short getaways for the weekend. Rajasthan is also trying to carve a niche in this sector to ensure that there is some form of revenue generation from tourism. With Rajasthan being the destination wedding hub, a major target audience will be the wedding market.
