The aboriginal people of this place as called Kodavas and they are known for their hospitality and expertise in martial arts. The amalgamation of breathtaking mountain peaks, scintillating waterfalls, and lush green landscapes field flora and fauna makes it a perfect holiday destination.

Mountain treks & river rafting are a few adventure activities that can be done here. Abbey Falls, Madikeri Fort, Tadiandamol & Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary are the top attractions that you can add to your itinerary. It is around 260kms from Bangalore and is easily accessible by road & trains. The nearest major train station would be Mysore which is about 70km from Coorg.

2.Cherapunji

Also known as the crown jewel of North India, this place once used to be the wettest place on the earth because of the tremendous rainfall that it received throughout the year. Now considered as the second wettest place in the world, the place is famous for its waterfalls and man-made root bridges made from rubber trees. One of these kinds of bridges is more than 500 years old and is still in use.

The Double Decker Root Bridge is one of the most famous ones and to reach this bridge it is gonna quite some time and effort. Be prepared to hike for at least 1.5 hours but it is worth making this effort. Nohkalikai falls, Mawsmai caves and Dawki river are the best places to visit during this trip to Cherapunji. You can stay in Shillong and do a day trip to Cherapunji as Shillong is more accessible and well connected to other cities when compared to Cherapunji. It is around 50km from Shillong.

3.Ladakh

Also known as bikers paradise, this place is picture-perfect to visit during August. Considering the geographical location of this place, it receives very little to almost no rainfall during the monsoon season. This makes it to the list of best places to visit in August in India. This place is also called a “Land of passes” as it surrounded by snow-capped mountains at an altitude of more than 2700meters.
