Kuta Survival Guide

Public Transport

Bali Public buses are used for long distance travel and the most common way of getting around Bali is through mini-buses or bemos as they are locally called. They don't run on schedules and make unpredecented stops throughout the way depending on the customers request. While fares are relatively cheaper, foreigners may be tricked to pay extra. Bemos operate on a standard route with a set fare.

Taxi & Airport transfer

Ngurah Rai International Airport serves the city of Kuta. It is just 15 mins away from the city centre. While picking up a prepaid taxi right from inside the airport cost you Rp 50,000, getting a taxi from outside will cost you Rp 20,000 for the same ride. Another cost effective way to get to the city centre is by catching a bemo from right outside the airport. They cost around Rp 5,000 to Rp 10,000. The largest and the most reliable taxis in Bali are Bluebird and Bali Taksi.

Transport & city passes

City passes are not available in Kuta. Although the City has an average public transportation system to offer, it is better to opt for private taxis and go around the city.

Driving & Car rental

Small range rental cars are easy to find in Kuta. They cost around Rp 140,000. But the traffic jams are a constant hassle in Kuta and finding a designated parking is difficult. Alternatively, you can rent a scooter which comes around Rp 30,000 - Rp 40,000 for a day. But while riding a scooter make sure, you wear a helmet and carry all the necessary documents required.
