The palace, an epitome of art has as many as five gateways, artful wooden walls, and 9 protective strongholds, with several stories of Shaniwar Wada. Shaniwar Wada was the seat of the Peshwa rulers of the Maratha Empire until 1818 AD when the Peshwara fell to the emperor. Shaniwar Wada is a man with a great master. The palace was the centre of Indian politics during the 18th century, after the rise of the Maratha Empire.

Evening: Vetal Hill

Vetal Hill is the highest point of the district. Vetal is a must-see destination for a few interesting photos of the city. The shrine is also referred to as Panchaleshvara or Temple of Bamburde and is devoted to Lord Shiva. In the Rashtrakutas era, the stone-cut cave temple was built in the 8th century A.D. The temple of the cave resembles Ellora’s rock-covered temples. The government of Maharashtra has declared it a protected monument. Composed of basalt rock, the cave temple formed from one rock. In the sanctum, a cube-shaped area approximately 3 to 4 meters high, houses a linga, the symbol of shiva. You can also spot two smaller cells on either side of the sanctuary.
