Although you can enjoy the trek on your own at your own pace, a guided trek is advised, as the guides have better knowledge about the trekking trails and safety measures. The guided treks usually start at 9.00 a.m in the morning and the start point is Vangani town. Generally, the operators charge a minimal fee of 750 INR that includes a vegetarian breakfast and also your evening snacks. The train operates three times a day, morning slot at 9.20 a.m, followed by an afternoon at 2.45 p.m and an evening slot at 4.20 p.m. Train operates between Neral and Matheran.

  • Second Class: 45 INR per adult, 30 INR for Children

Irshalgad Fort

Irshalgad Fort sits on top a hill at 3700 Meters above sea-level. The DIfficulty of the trek ranges from moderate to high and we highly recommend you to carry your trekking gears and trekking poles. Trekking starts at Irshalgad Village and it will take roughly an hour and a half to reach the fort from the village. Surrounding regions of Irshalgad is full of lush green plateaus pleasing your eyes. Once you reach the pinnacle, you will able to witness nearby attractions like Prabalgad fort, Chanderi, Karnala and Manikgad.
