Where To Get An Italy Visa For Indians?

Italy’s official visa processing partner is the company VFS Global (Visa Facilitation Services Global) where you can apply online via the VFS Global website. Also, you will need to attend an interview at a VFS Global centre located in various cities. The application procedure should take at least 15 days but can increase up to 30 days. In some cases, it can also take up to 60 days.

Types of Italy Visa For Indians

According to the stay of the tourists, there are two types of Italian visas.

Short Term Stay Visa

The Schengen Visa is issued if any tourist wants to stay in the country for not more than 90 days. The Italian Embassy has subdivided short term stay visas into five subcategories according to the need for the visit.

  1. Tourist Visa / Business Visa – Italy tourist visa is issued when the main purpose of travelling is- vacation, visiting family or friends, Receiving medical treatment. If someone is travelling to fulfil their business commitment, such as attending business meetings, seminars, conferences, etc are issued a Business visa.
  2. Transit Visa – It is a type of visa for people having a layover in Italy and needing to board a connecting flight to reach their destination country.
  3. Study Short Stay Visa – This visa can be applied if someone wants to study a short term course in Italy but the duration must not exceed 90 days.
  4. Sports Visa – Sports visa is applied for those people who are travelling to Italy as a player, referee, or judge in their field of sports.
  5. Invitation Visa – People who are invited by any organization in Italy due to their professional status or achievements then an Invitation visa is applied.

Long Term Stay Visa

The National Visa is issued if any tourist wants to stay in the country for more than 90 days. The Italian Embassy has subdivided long term stay visas into three subcategories according to the need for the visit.

  1. Study Visa – With the main purpose to study in Italy for more than 90 days then a Study visa is applied.
  2. Work Visa – Italy work visa includes both employment visa for intra-company transfer, skilled professional, salaried workers, etc and self-employment visa for people who are business owners, startup owners, freelancers, etc.
  3. Family Reunion Visa – Family Reunion Visa is for those people who are visiting Italy to reunite or visit for a long stay with their family.

Documents Required For Italy Visa For Indians

The Italy Embassy/Consular Office has the right to have all the documents they need and may even call you for an interview.  Here is a list of Italy visa documents you may require for your application –

  1. Download, fill and sign the visa application form
  2. Valid passport (it should be not older than 10 years and has a validity of at least three more months.)
  3. Recent Passport size photographs (latest clicked within 3 months, with white background, face and ears, clearly visible and photo should be on good quality paper.)
  4. Proof of accommodation and flight reservations.
  5. Evidence of sufficient finance status
  6. Copies of your previous visas (if any)
  7. Travel Insurance with minimum coverage of EUR 30000

Here are the steps to check the status of visa application online –

  1. Visit the official website of VFSGlobal (Visa Facilitation Services Global) Italy
  2. Select your “Embassy”
  3. Click on “Track your application”
  4. Enter “Reference number” and “Date of Birth”
  5. Click on “submit”
