During the early 1950s, the then ruling Stalinist government had built the cable car system for labourers working in the mines. 8. Katskhi Pillar

This is one of the most surreal places to visit in Georgia. Katskhi Pillar is a true marvel and an unreal location which will make you put on your thinking cap. It is typically a limestone monolith which is about 40 metres high and is also referred to as the ‘Pillar of Life.’ The most mind-boggling part of the Katskhi Pillar is that a church has been built on top of it! But how exactly were the designers or architects at that point of time able to climb up a monolith and build a church?
