When I say Pyramids, the first thing that probably comes to your mind is the Egyptian Pyramids. What if I told you that there’s another place where you’ll find equally splendid Pyramids? Yes, the country of Mexico is home to some of the most amazing pyramids in the world.

To give you a bit of history, long before the arrival of the Spaniards, ancient civilizations ruled over Mexico. The several relics left in Mexico represent these civilizations. One of the most notable relics is the Pyramids of Mexico. These pyramids represent their tribute to the animal and planetary gods. Even if you’re not a culture lover, you should still visit these marvellous wonders for their stunning architecture.

Given there are several pyramids, we’ve curated a list of the most amazing Pyramids for you to visit during your trip to Mexico.

Most Amazing Pyramids to visit in Mexico

Chichen Itza: The Temple Of Kukulkan

One of the most famous pyramids in the world is Chichen Itza. Even if you haven’t heard of this Pyramid, you would’ve definitely seen it at least once somewhere on the internet. This large step-pyramid is dedicated to the Mayan gods, who were represented by a feathered Serpent. You’ll be awestruck by the architecture and what it represents.

The Chichen Itza is built in such a way that the spring and the fall equinoxes change the shadow of the steps into an illusion of a serpent gliding down the steps. Another interesting fact about this pyramid is that, when you add steps on all four sides, including the upper platform, it equals 365,  the number of days in a year. This new seventh wonder tops the list of most amazing pyramids to visit in Mexico

The second-largest pyramid in Teotihuacan is the Pyramid of the Moon. This Pyramid constructed between 100-450 A.D has layers of pyramids on top of one another. When you look at the Pyramid, you’ll notice that it mimics the nearby Mt.Cerro Gordo.

Now, here’s the interesting part, the pyramid, located at the end of the Avenue of the dead, was a stage to perform ritual sacrifices and later burial of those humans and animals. The burials happened in order to legitimize the addition of pyramids on top of one another. While there were sacrifices happening at the bottom, the top platforms were used to conduct rituals to honour the great goddess of Teotihuacan. So, make sure you pay a visit to one of the most amazing pyramids in Mexico, the Pyramid of the Moon.
