The Chichen Itza is built in such a way that the spring and the fall equinoxes change the shadow of the steps into an illusion of a serpent gliding down the steps. Teotihuacan: Pyramid Of The Sun in Mexico

The Pyramid of the Sun is one of the largest pyramids found in the birthplace of gods, Teotihuacan. This Pyramid is believed to be built in 200 AD before all of the Mayan architectures. The Pyramid of the Sun is also known as the sister Pyramid as it mimics the shapes as well as the tombs with different layers. This pyramid was the site for many magical ceremonies. Sounds a little spooky but it’s definitely an interesting visit. Besides this, you also get to view the entire city from the top of the Pyramid. 

Teotihuacan: Pyramid of the Moon in Mexico

The second-largest pyramid in Teotihuacan is the Pyramid of the Moon. This Pyramid constructed between 100-450 A.D has layers of pyramids on top of one another. When you look at the Pyramid, you’ll notice that it mimics the nearby Mt.Cerro Gordo.

Now, here’s the interesting part, the pyramid, located at the end of the Avenue of the dead, was a stage to perform ritual sacrifices and later burial of those humans and animals. The burials happened in order to legitimize the addition of pyramids on top of one another. While there were sacrifices happening at the bottom, the top platforms were used to conduct rituals to honour the great goddess of Teotihuacan. Coba: Nohoch Mul Pyramid in Mexico

These settlements had a population of 50,000.
