Jurong Bird Park:

The Bird Park is an aviary and bird sanctuary located in Jurong, Singapore. It is a very famous tourist location and is very common with travellers visiting Singapore. This Park covers the western part of Jurong hill, which is the highest point of the region and is managed by the Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS).

  1. The Bird Park which has 19 exhibits is also home to 5000 birds of 400 different species. It previously had only 1000 birds from 60 different species.
  2. The then Prime Minister thought that maintaining Elephants and tigers will be expensive, so he came up with the idea of the Bird Park. In 1971, the Jurong park was built.
  3. In 1981, they started bird shows where the birds drove bicycles on highwire and played Basketball. At one point they felt that the birds should not do such things, so they just held a normal bird show.
  4. The 2HA Waterfall Avery is the second-largest walk-in aviary in the world which is also home to 1000 free-flying birds.
  5. The Lory Loft, which is nine-storeys high, is also the world’s largest walk-in flight aviary for Lories and lorikeets.
