Sections at the Underwater World in Langkawi

According to the ecosystem diversity, the complex is divided into three major sections – Tropical Rainforest, Temperate and Sub-Antarctic. There are Freshwater sections as well which is kind of generalised.

Tropical Rainforest Section

This section is inclusive of some unique grounded and flight birds which are kept in open space and include flamingos, Mandarin duck, black swans parakeet, laughing thrush, and a lot more. Some land animals here are snapping turtles, Marmoset – smallest monkeys in the world along with diverse fishes like tinfoil barb, Arowana, pacu in the tanks.

Temperate section

This section is the playhouse of fur seals. These social mammals are mostly found at the Atlantic of South America and some other places as well. There is a display of great shows in the large tanks by some of the adult seals during their feeding time.

Subtropical Section

The place is also called the ’penguin-arium’. It houses the Rockhopper Penguins which can literally hop over the rocks. The visitors can also explore the other parts of the aquarium which are the Marine Life Section, feed the fish at the Ponds and the Coral Reef Tanks as well.

How To Reach Underwater World in Langkawi

The Underwater World in Langkawi address is Zon Pantai Cenang, Mukim Kedawang, 07000 Langkawi. From Langkawi International Airport, there are quite fewer options available. It is at an approximate distance of 9 kilometres and you can only take a cab/taxi at the location within 15 minutes from the airport. Moreover, the time taken to reach from Kuah Town to the complex is about 30 minutes.

Entry Ticket for Underwater World

The ticket price for Underwater World in Langkawi for a foreigner adult is 43 RM (Malaysian Ringgits) or approximately 710 INR and the price is 33 RM or approximately 550 INR for a foreigner child from age 3-12.

The opening hours vary depending on whether it’s a weekday or a weekend. The Langkawi Underwater World timings are: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM – All days and from 09:30 AM to 06:30 PM – Public and School Holidays. The approximate exploration time of the place is 3 hours.
