Mauritius is the land of sparkling beach with a volcano in the middle of it. The volcano has been dormant for many many years, so not to worry. 1. Black River Gorges National Park

Distance: 10km (6.2m)
Difficulty level: Easy

The Black River Georges park is approximately 6800 hectares wide and is located in the south-west of Mauritius. The park’s information centre has a map of hiking trails for the tourists, you can hire a guide if you wish to. The best time to hike the Black Rivers would be around the winter season when the weather is nice and the views turn blue.

2. Le Morne Brabant

Difficulty level: Medium

Le Morne Brabant was announced as UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered to be one of the top destinations for hikers. The peak stands 550 meters above the sea and is roughly about 12 hectares widespread. Located in the south of Mauritius, the peak has a pleasant blue background with the extraordinary turquoise blue water. The peak is also filled with ancient history. Legend has it that slaves jumped from the cliff of this peak in the fear of being captured and tortured again.

3. Le Pouce Mountain

Duration: 2-3 hours
Distance: 4.3 km
Difficulty level: Easy

Situated in the Moka district in Mauritius, Le Pouce is yet again a popular peak among people who love to hike. The difficulty level to climb the peak is very low, that even a beginner can reach the summit of the mountain. This mountain is also the third highest mountain in Mauritius. Hungry while hiking?
