Experience Mauritius in the Rainy Season: Monsoon Magic

The spectacular island nation, Mauritius, is located off the eastern coast of Africa beyond Madagascar. Mauritius has been a popular tourist destination for many years as it offers luxury resorts, powdered white sand beaches, and sapphire ocean waters. It’s no wonder that Mark Twain considered this island a paradise on earth.

Unlike many other islands, there’s so much that Mauritius has to offer. From hiking up thrilling mountainous regions, diving and snorkelling at beautiful coral sites, discovering the rich history and culture of the island, relishing various cuisines, and going on excursions to the botanical gardens and plantation houses, there’s so much to do in Mauritius. A common misconception about Mauritius is that it’s a destination meant only for couples, but that’s not the case. Mauritius is a destination that appeals to any traveller.

The summer season would be a perfect time for those who want to soak up the sun or take a refreshing swim in the beach. Towards the end of December till April, you can expect showers on the island with February and March seeing the highest rainfall. So, you might have to avoid planning your vacation during Feb and March. The winter season, on the other hand, would be mild with light showers, making the weather pleasant for activities. That being said, there are no fixed rainy or dry seasons in Mauritius, the island experiences occasional rainfall throughout the year. The advantage that one might have while travelling during the monsoon months is that there will be a lesser crowd and you can enjoy in peace.
