The summer season would be a perfect time for those who want to soak up the sun or take a refreshing swim in the beach. Towards the end of December till April, you can expect showers on the island with February and March seeing the highest rainfall. So, you might have to avoid planning your vacation during Feb and March. The winter season, on the other hand, would be mild with light showers, making the weather pleasant for activities. That being said, there are no fixed rainy or dry seasons in Mauritius, the island experiences occasional rainfall throughout the year. 1. Blue Penny Museum

If you’re a history buff, then you must visit the Blue Penny Museum in Mauritius for deeper knowledge on the history and art of the country. The Blue Penny museum was opened in November 2001 in the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis. The museum is home to old paintings, stamps, old official documents, marine maps, and engravings. While visiting the museum you can also admire the works of Prosper D’Epinay – the original statue of Paul and Virginie which was carved in 1881. The museum provides shelter during showers, thus making it a perfect place to visit during monsoon.

2. Maheswarnath Shiv Mandir

As the island is culturally diverse, you can discover many mosques, temples, and churches. One of the largest temples built in Mauritius is the Maheswarnath Shiv Mandir, built more than 130 years ago.  The temple was established in 1888 near a sugar mill and was dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has been a famous attraction over the years and goes by the name of Temple de Triolet. Several devotees of Shiva visit this temple every year. If you’re travelling during monsoon season, you can visit the temple during the Maha Shivaratri celebrations.

3. Eureka Creole House

You must-visit the Eureka Creole House to see the antique interior decor, and furniture built from mahogany & ebony. The Eureka Creole house is a historical site that dates back to the 19th century and was occupied by French and British aristocrats. Surrounded by the waterfalls of the Moka River and green covers, the Creole house is a feast to one’s eyes. It is one of the best places to visit during the monsoon weather.

4.  Blue Safari Submarine

The most captivating Blue Safari Submarine gives a remarkable experience and you must definitely try it when you’re in Mauritius. You will find vivid coral reefs, colourful fishes, crabs, and other aquatic animals.

5. Pamplemousses Botanical Garden

Pamplemousses Botanical Garden also called as Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden, is home to a variety of palm trees that comprise an area of 60 acres. The garden comes to life during the rainy months as the giant lily ponds are filled with frogs and tadpoles. You can also witness the trees that have been planted by Indira Gandhi and Nelson Mandela themselves. If you’re a nature lover, then be sure to include this in your itinerary.
